Job description

Noah Wallace Elementary is seeking two (2) Special Education Paraprofessionals for the 2025-2026 school year.

Position is 6.5 hours per day during the school year.

Position includes 8 paid holidays, 12 sick days, and 3 personal days. Eligible for health insurance, $30,000 life insurance, and long-term disability.

Qualifications:
  1. Candidate should hold an Associate's degree or 2 years of college diploma or its equivalent (i.e., Para Professional Assessment). Bachelor's degree preferred.
  2. Candidate should demonstrate the ability to develop and maintain a good rapport with students and possess a personable relationship with teachers.
  3. Consideration will be given to the ability to carry out directions in both oral and written form, various life/work experiences, and prior experience working with school-age children.

Reports to: Classroom Teacher and School Principal

Salary: Starting at $24.18 per hour (per FPSEU contract)

General Description:

The Special Service Paraprofessional will provide personal care/hygiene (e.g., lifting up to 50 pounds and toileting) and assist with medication regimens. The paraprofessional may also provide instructional services and classroom support, including carrying out teacher-prepared lesson plans, supervising activities, assisting in material preparation, and recording student progress. This role requires a cooperative relationship with teachers.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Supporting Instruction:
    • Tutoring/One-on-one instruction
    • Circulating in class
    • Helping group instruction
    • Modifying instructional materials
    • Assisting students with technology
    • Assisting students with tests and assessments
  2. Documentation and Data:
    • Observing and collecting data on students
    • Organizing data and graphs
    • Recording student progress, including data
    • Taking classroom notes
    • Taking attendance
  3. Student Management:
    • Providing personal care/hygiene support
    • Assisting with medication regimens
    • Monitoring hallways and study halls
    • Maintaining on-task behavior
    • Correcting minor behavioral problems
    • Escorting students to other classes
  4. Clerical:
    • Scheduling activities
    • Copying, stapling, etc.
    • Operating media equipment
    • Maintaining equipment
    • Running errands
  5. Other:
    • Handling records confidentially
    • Performing related duties as assigned
