Kelly Pediatric Therapyis looking to partner withSpecial Education ParaprofessionalsinNewville, PAto support middle school students with disabilities for the 26/27 School Year. This position works closely with students to promote academic growth, independence, communication, and social-emotional development.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Supportmiddle school studentswith disabilities in individual, small-group, and inclusive classroom settings
  • Assist special education teachers with implementing IEP goals, accommodations, and modifications
  • Reinforce instruction through guided practice and direct student support
  • Provide behavioral support using positive behavior intervention strategies
  • Assist students withpersonal care needs, includingtoileting, hygiene, feeding, and mobility
  • Physically assist students with transfers in and out of wheelchairs, positioning, and safe mobility
  • Supportnonverbal and minimally verbal studentsby assisting withAAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) devicesand communication systems
  • Monitor and document student progress, behavior, and communication attempts
  • Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment
  • Supervise students during transitions, lunch, recess, and other school activities
  • Prepare instructional materials and classroom resources
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists (speech, OT, PT), and other service providers
  • Maintain student confidentiality in compliance with FERPA and district policies
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience working with children or adolescents in special education is required
  • Knowledge of special education practices and student behavior support strategies
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Physical Requirements
  • Physical ability to lift, position, and assist students, includingtransfers to and from wheelchairs
  • Ability to assist withtoileting, feeding, and personal care tasks
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the school day
  • Ability to respond quickly in situations requiring student safety
Skills and Abilities
  • Patience, empathy, and a respectful, supportive approach with adolescents
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced school environment
  • Comfort working with assistive technology, including AAC devices
