Job summary

Elk River Area ISD 728 is seeking a dedicated Special Education Paraprofessional to join elementary teams for the 2026-2027 school year. You will support students with diverse learning needs, collaborating with Special Education Teachers to foster academic, behavioral, and social-emotional growth in a safe, inclusive environment.

The position runs on a 10-month calendar with a starting wage of $22.08 per hour.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must meet Minnesota Paraprofessional requirements (e.g., an Associate's degree, 60 college credits, or a passing score on the ParaPro Assessment).
• Previous experience with children, especially with special needs, is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist lead teacher with individualized or small-group instruction per IEPs.
• Help keep students engaged in general and special education settings.
• Implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and assist in de-escalating challenging behaviors.
• Assist teachers in observing, recording, and charting student progress.
• Assist students with daily living activities if needed.
• Prepare instructional materials and set up assistive technology.
