Job summary

Brainerd Public Schools seeks a Special Education Assistant - EBD (1 Year Only) to support students with emotional/behavioral disabilities across classrooms and common areas. You will implement IEP goals, provide targeted interventions, and assist with daily living skills under supervision.

You’ll work with classroom and special education staff, participate in professional development, and contribute to a safe, inclusive learning environment for diverse learners in Lincoln Education Center.

Qualifications

• Meet highly-qualified requirements for paraprofessional as outlined: two-year associate degree, 60 college credits, para-pro or para e-link certification.
• Experience working with students with physical, cognitive and/or mild behavioral needs.
• Handle with Care Training required within three months of hire and maintained during employment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to be a team member.
• Ability to be flexible based on program and student needs.
• Ability to assist students in various learning settings and community activities.

Responsibilities

• Carry out duties and responsibilities in a student’s IEP.
• Assist students in individual and group settings in resource or inclusive settings.
• Provide specialized instruction/interventions/accommodations as outlined in the IEP.
• Collaborate with teachers and related service providers to ensure student safety and progress.
• Monitor student progress and maintain confidentiality.
• Work closely with bus duty and field trips as required.
