Job summary

Washington County Public Schools is seeking a Paraprofessional for Special Education at Sharpsburg Elementary School. The role supports students under the teacher's guidance and participates in team planning.

Minimum requirements include high school diploma, two years’ school-based experience, and ability to lift 30–50 pounds. The position offers 7 hours per day, a 10-month work year, and a starting hourly rate of $19.26 with potential earnings up to $34.84 per hour, plus a 10% differential

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED required.
• Meet Highly Qualified status via AA degree, 48 credits, or Paraprofessional Assessment Test.
• Two years' experience in a school setting or with children.
• Ability to lift between 30-50 pounds.
• Regular and predictable attendance.
• Ability to perform essential functions with or without accommodations.

Responsibilities

• Work with individual students and small groups to reinforce skills.
• Assist with developing and implementing strategies for reinforcing skills.
• Assist with physical care and management of students as needed.
• Follow through to carry out individual programs designed by the teacher.
• Participate in and provide input for team planning functions.
• Assist with instructional activities and maintaining classroom organization.
