Job summary

Hiawatha Valley Education District is seeking a Full‑time Special Education Paraprofessional for River Valley Academy ALC Program in Winona, MN. This position runs for the 9‑month School Year 2026-2027 and offers a benefits package.

The paraprofessional will support teachers, assist with instructional tasks, manage documentation, and help maintain a safe, engaging classroom environment for students with behavioral needs. Certification and bilingual or written communication skills are a plus.

Qualifications

• High-school diploma or equivalent required; Minnesota ParaPro Assessment provided by HVED.
• Certified in Safety Care (training provided).
• Experience with students with behavioral needs and instructional support.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers with teaching duties and organization of materials.
• Perform clerical tasks including attendance records and progress reports.
• Adapt activities to support IEP goals and classroom objectives.
• Administer tests, homework, and make-up work as directed.
• Collaborate with staff to communicate information and support services.
• Monitor safety during learning activities and transportation as needed.
• Provide lunch duties and manage lunch orders.
• Other duties as assigned by supervising teacher.
