Job summary

Weld County School District RE-5J in Colorado is seeking a part-time Paraprofessional to support students in a Center Based Special Education program (.6875 FTE). The 176-day schedule runs 5.5 hours daily; compensation follows the Classified Salary Schedule Category III ($18.41-$28.06 per hour) with no standard medical or dental benefits.

Under supervision, you will assist certified staff with instruction, reinforce learning, manage behavior, and help with non-instructional tasks such as

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Successful completion of college level coursework or passing of examination as required by the No Child Left Behind Act.
• Prior experience working with special needs children desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist students to reinforce reading, language arts, math, and computer skills.
• Work with students individually and in small groups to reinforce learning.
• Assist professional staff in administration and correction of classroom exercises.
• Assist with classroom preparations and strategies for reinforcing instructional materials.
• Assist with record-keeping to document student learning.
• Assist with classroom behaviour management to maintain a safe, on-task environment.
• Accompany students on field trips for supervision.
• Follow safety rules and confidentiality policies.
