Job summary

Haralson is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional to support teachers and students in the classroom and on the playground. You will assist with instructional activities, maintain records, and monitor student progress in collaboration with the teaching team.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, certification or 60 college credits, strong communication, and the ability to stand for extended periods.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent plus passing score on paraprofessional certification test, or Paraprofessional Certificate, or 60 hours of college credits.
• Experience in education is preferred.
• Must be physically able to perform job duties as necessary for the students.
• Effective written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
• Ability to stand for prolonged periods.

Responsibilities

• Maintain order with the students assigned for supervision.
• Diaper, bathroom, and health tasks as assigned.
• Tutor students on lessons determined by the teacher.
• Help maintain a positive classroom environment.
• Monitor student health problems if assigned.
• Assist teacher with organizational and instructional needs.
• Assist students in general education classrooms and other settings.
• Maintain accurate records and data regarding students.
• Work as a team with the teacher.

• Supervise students in halls, playgrounds, and unstructured areas.
• Conduct classroom observations using rubrics.
