Job summary

Quitman County Elementary School is seeking a compassionate Special Education Paraprofessional to support students with disabilities in both general education and special education settings. The role focuses on implementing IEPs, assisting with instruction, and supporting daily living and social skills.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
  • 60 college credit hours or an associate's degree, or passing GACE Paraprofessional Assessment.
  • Experience with children or individuals with disabilities preferred.
  • Ability to work patiently, professionally, and effectively with students, families, and staff.

Job description

Quitman County Elementary School is seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and dependable Special Education Paraprofessional to support students with disabilities in both general education and special education settings. The ideal candidate will work closely with teachers and staff to implement individualized education plans (IEPs), assist with classroom instruction, behavior support, and help students with daily living and social skills.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Support students individually or in small groups under the direction of certified staff.
  • Assist with implementation of instructional and behavioral strategies.
  • Monitor and record student progress.
  • Support students with mobility, communication, and/or daily living needs.
  • Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, lunchrooms, and during transitions.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Must meet paraprofessional requirements under federal and state guidelines (e.g., 60 semester hours of college credit, an associate's degree, or passing score on the GACE Paraprofessional Assessment or equivalent).
  • Experience working with children or individuals with disabilities preferred.
  • Ability to work patiently, professionally, and effectively with students, families, and staff.
  • Ability to assist students with physical needs.
