Hoover Elementary School

The Mankato School District has a position available for Special Education Resource Paraeducator at Hoover Elementary School beginning September 10, 2026.

Elementary school hours are 8:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

Flexible scheduling options are available.

Summary of Duties

The Resource Paraeducator works under the direction of a certified teacher to support students receiving special education services. Key responsibilities include implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), facilitating behavioral and academic interventions, tracking student progress, and assisting with daily classroom operations. This role involves working directly with students who have diverse learning, emotional, and physical needs, fostering an encouraging environment that supports both their personal growth and academic success.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Support students individually and in small-group instructional settings.
  • Reinforce classroom instruction and learning activities.
  • Implement accommodations and modifications identified in student IEPs.
  • Assist with classroom organization, routines, and instructional materials.
  • Monitor student progress and collect instructional and behavioral data.
  • Encourage independence, organization, and self-advocacy.
  • Provide positive behavioral support and redirection.
  • Collaborate with teachers, specialists, and families.
  • Participate in district training and professional development.

Requirements

Candidates must meet one of the following criteria to qualify for this position:

  • Highly Qualified:
    • 60-semester credits (or two years full-time at an institute of higher education)
    • or an Associate's degree (AA, AS, AAS)
    • or must pass the Paraeducator assessment before the first day of employment
Pre-Employment Requirements

All final candidates must successfully complete the following prior to employment:

  • Physical Screening: Must pass a job-related physical screening.
  • Background Check: Must pass a comprehensive criminal background check.
Pay

Starting at $18.50 - up to $19.72 per hour (Based on experience in a public school setting).
