Job summary

Meriden Board of Education is seeking a paraprofessional to support students with a range of needs, including handicapped and autism, under the supervision of teachers. You will assist with academic tasks, mobility, and therapy activities in diverse classrooms and on field trips.

Requirements include a Para-Pro Certificate, an Associate Degree, or 60 college credits. Until fully qualified you may be hired as a substitute paraeducator at $18.10 per hour, with no benefits; a later rate of $18.92

Qualifications

• Requires Para-Pro Certificate, an Associate Degree, or 60 college credits.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and assist with feeding, toileting, and other personal hygiene.
• Flexible and able to adjust to schedule changes as directed by teachers/principal.

Responsibilities

• Assist in all school activities and therapy routines.
• Support students with instruction and daily living tasks.
• Provide mobility and personal care assistance as needed.
• Assist with field trips and life skills instruction.
