Job summary

Mount Pleasant Community School District is seeking an Associate/Paraeducator to support a safe, positive teaching and learning environment and assist in the development of students’ physical and intellectual growth. You will help support social, emotional, and behavioral development and establish positive relationships, while integrating technology to enhance learning.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma (or GED) and a paraeducator certificate or equivalent preferred.

Qualifications

• Earned high school diploma or education equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Maintain confidentiality of information in accordance with FERPA.
• Supervise and assist students, including during bus duty, recess, field trips, and lunchroom.
• Implement behavior management strategies used by the teacher.
• Perform clerical duties (copying, filing, bulletin boards, grading papers, typing).
• Assist students in use of computers.
• Carry out teacher's educational plans for small groups or individual students (IEPs or 504 Plans).
• Monitor student progress using the teacher's method.
• Communicate with teachers regarding student progress.
• Attend staffing as requested by teacher, principal or parent.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.
