Job summary

ISD 622 is seeking a Special Education Paraeducator to support instructional activities and student needs in a Monday–Friday schedule of 32.5 hours per week. The role requires assisting with curriculum, behavior management, and daily classroom tasks while ensuring safety and confidentiality.

The position starts ASAP and offers benefits per the labor agreement; candidates should meet education requirements or ParaPro testing as outlined in the posting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and one of the following: AA/AS/AAS or higher, or 60 credits post-secondary coursework, or passing score on ParaEducator test.
• Ability to lift up to 70 pounds and restrain students in emergency situations.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to maintain confidentiality; complete required training.

Responsibilities

• Assist in instruction by providing support and practical training to students across subjects.
• Assist the teacher with implementing instructional plans and adapting curriculum as directed by the teacher; prepare class schedules and organize learning materials; assist with classroom activities.
• Support educational staff in meeting students' specific needs; redirect inappropriate behaviors; assist with feeding, movement, and toileting; escort to vocational training; chaperone outings; supervise bus loading/unloading.
• Promote a safe and productive learning environment; communicate student needs to staff; monitor and document student progress and IEP data.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding students and the educational setting; perform other related duties as assigned.
