Job summary

Sylvania is seeking a paraeducator to assist the classroom teacher in the Learning Strategies program. The role supports instructional, behavioural, and personal needs of students under supervision.

This 10-month, school-year position runs from August 19, 2026, with hours 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM and a paid lunch. Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED with one of the specified pathways, prior experience with children preferred, and bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.

Job description

Under general supervision, assists the classroom teacher in the Learning Strategies program by performing a variety of tasks relating to the instructional, behavioural, and personal assistance needs of students.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED and one of the following:
• Associate's degree; or
• Minimum of 60 college credits; or
• Passing score on the ParaPathways Assessment
• Successful experience working with children preferred, but training will be provided
• Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply

Position Details:

• Start Date: August 19, 2026
• 10-month, school-year position
• 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM with a paid lunch (7.0 paid hours per day)
• Hourly wage in accordance with the Paraeducators collective bargaining agreement
• Sick and Personal time
• Eligible for enrollment in non-certified pension plan
