Job summary

School District 622 - North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale is seeking a Special Education Paraeducator to support instruction and student activities.

This role involves assisting with plans, organizing materials, and supervising students to ensure a safe learning environment. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and relevant training or tests; experience with students with disabilities and behavior management is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with one of: AA/AS/AAS (or higher) or 60 credits toward bachelor’s degree, or passing ParaEducator test.
• Ability to lift up to 70 pounds and restrain students in emergency situations.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Completion of any required training for the position.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the instruction of students by providing support and practical training in various subject matters.
• Assist the teacher by implementing instructional plans and adapting/modifying curriculum as directed; prepare class schedules and learning materials.
• Support educational staff to meet student needs: redirect inappropriate behaviors, assist with feeding and movement, diapering and toileting, escort to vocational training, supervise outings and bus duty.
• Monitor and document student progress; record data for IEPs; maintain confidentiality.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
