Job summary

Port Angeles School District seeks a One Year Only R2 Special Education Base Paraeducator to provide instructional, behavioral, social-emotional, personal, and supervisory support to students with significant and/or complex special education needs. Under certificated staff direction, you will help students access instruction and participate meaningfully in the school environment.

The role emphasizes progress toward goals in IEPs, developing independence, and potential supervision during recess

Qualifications

• Assists students in accessing instruction.
• Supports students’ social-emotional development.
• Supervises students during school activities and meals.

Responsibilities

• The paraeducator provides instructional, behavioral, social-emotional, personal, and supervisory support to students with significant and/or complex special education needs.
• Working under the direction of certificated staff, the paraeducator assists students in accessing instruction, participating meaningfully in the school environment, developing independence and functional skills, and making progress toward goals identified through their IEPs.
