Boulder Valley School District is seeking a Paraeducator-Special Education at Flatirons Elementary in Boulder, CO. The role supports students with intensive needs across regular and special education settings, assisting with behavioral, health, and academic tasks.

Responsibilities include assisting in classrooms, cafeteria, and on-field activities; aiding IEP implementation, crisis response, and documentation.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Completed and submitted BVSD online application.
• Communicate (read, write, and speak) in English.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds; diaper, feed; complete other delegated nursing and health care duties.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to special education students in the regular and special education classrooms.
• Supports may include adapting work, monitoring and enforcing behavior, implementing health care plans, and academic support.
• Assist children in the cafeteria, at recess, in labs or on the bus as needed.
• Assist in crisis situations often involving physically aggressive students, including restraining and documentation.
• Understand state laws and district policies on behavior management and maintain student confidentiality.
• Collaborate with the special education teacher/case manager on implementation of IEPs and progress toward goals.
• Attend required professional development, including CPI, CPR and First Aid; maintain related certifications.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
