Job summary

Norwalk Public Schools is seeking a Paraeducator - Special Education (Group 1 - Bus) for the 2026-2027 school year. The role supports students with disabilities in participating in their educational program and ensures safe bus operations under supervision.

You will follow IEP/504 plans, implement behavioral strategies, and collaborate with teachers, drivers, and staff to monitor progress and maintain student safety on and off the bus.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly, both orally and in writing.

• Ability to implement teacher directives related to instructional and behavioral goals effectively.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the implementation of district policies and directives.
• Follow school policy to ensure student safety.
• Receive and follow oral or written instructions including IEPs or 504 plans.
• Immediately report accidents, assaults, or safety concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
• Ensure students board and depart buses safely and orderly.
• Work with drivers and transportation staff to resolve student issues.
• Adhere to district health and safety policies.
• Demonstrate strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information at all times.
• Document attendance on the bus if required by the district.
