Dexter Community Schools seeks a Special Education Paraeducator for an 8-hour shift at Dexter Early Elementary Complex. The role supports students with disabilities academically, physically, and socially, under supervision of licensed staff, with responsibilities before/after school through Community Education’s After Care program.

Responsibilities include assisting with IEP goals, personal care, behavior management, and activity supervision while maintaining confidentiality and safe, welcoming

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to work with parents, students, staff.
• Criminal background check through LARA required.
• Computer skills necessary.
• Good communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to be self-directed and ability to identify and solve problems.
• Consistent and prompt attendance is important for the position and is expected.
• Familiar with various stages of child development of school-age children.

Responsabilités

• Assists student(s) with disabilities according to IEP supports for academics, behavior, and related services.
• Functions under direct supervision of a general or special education professional.
• Assists in developing work assignments and services for students with disabilities.
• Assists in implementing personal care, instructional programs and behavior management.
• Provides supervision and support for students in the After Care program and related activities.
• Maintains student confidentiality.
• Assists in administering assessments as needed.
• Supports implementation of planned lessons.
• Manages behavioral and instructional logs.
• Monitors goals and communicates progress.
