Job summary

Wayzata Public Schools is seeking Special Education Paraprofessionals to support students with academic, self-care, and social/behavioral needs for the 2026-27 school year.

Role includes implementing IEP tasks, supervising activities, observing and reporting behavior data, assisting with mobility and self-help skills, and ensuring confidentiality and safety in school settings. Positions at Wayzata High School with hours Monday–Friday.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; must meet Minnesota paraprofessional competency requirements.
• Non-violent Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training may be required.
• Experience with students who present emotional/behavioral challenges preferred.
• Ability to lift, pull, and move a minimum of 50 lbs.
• Flexible, adaptable, and comfortable working across varied settings.
• Computer skills preferred in daily tasks.

Responsibilities

• Implement assigned tasks in conjunction with students' IEPs, under direction of the special education teacher.
• Supervise students and assist with academic, social, motor, and functional classroom activities.
• Observe, document, and communicate student academic and social behavior data to teachers and supervisors.
• Assist with mobility, self-help skills (feeding, dressing), toileting, and adaptive equipment.
• Monitor halls, common areas, and transportation needs; accompany students to specialists.
• Maintain strict student confidentiality and enforce school rules.
