Qualifications

• High school graduation or equivalent.
• And have at least one of the following: ETS Paraeducator Assessment; Associate of Arts degree; 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits; registered apprenticeship program; foreign degrees accepted if evaluated by a NACES member company.

Responsibilities

• Provide for the physical, health and safety needs of students.
• Provide social, emotional, behavioral, and educational support for students with disabilities.
• Implement components of IEPs as required.
• Provide direct academic, functional, vocational and specially designed instruction.
• Advocate and support students with disabilities in least restrictive environment.
• Support students with significant emotional regulation challenges.
• Ensure safety of students and staff during escalated behavior.
• Encourage student independence in all settings.
• Collect data as directed by case manager/teacher.
• Respond to student medical needs within scope of position.
