WAGES: $18.14 for new hires; Entry level rate $14.14/hr. Current bargaining unit employees should refer to the established salary schedule. This position qualifies for the $4.00 Special Education Differential pay as per the MOA between DCSD and the Davenport Association of Para Educators.
Provide research-based social skills instruction and intervention under supervision of a certified teacher. Work with students with various disabilities, including Autism Spectrum Disorder. Responsibilities include attending trainings, following directives, working with students exhibiting challenging behaviors, providing academic and behavioral support, supervising students during various activities, and collaborating with staff. Physical requirements include lifting, supervising in different environments, and possibly restraining students if trained. The work environment varies from indoor to outdoor settings with noise levels from quiet to loud. Personal qualities such as patience, dependability, and cultural sensitivity are essential.
Must be able to sit, stand, speak, hear, see, walk, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform physical restraint if trained. Reasonable accommodations can be made for disabilities.
