Job summary

Qualifications

Must hold valid Michigan Teaching Certificate.
Must be certified to teach Special Education.
Learning Disabilities endorsement preferred.
Must meet NCLB requirements of a “Highly Qualified” Teacher.
Must be Highly Qualified in Math and English/Language Arts.

Responsibilities

Provide specially designed instruction and targeted academic interventions based on individual learning needs.
Work with students individually, in small groups, and/or within the general education classroom.
Support students in identified areas of academic concern, including reading, writing, mathematics, executive functioning, organization, and other areas of need.
Provide accommodations and modifications as outlined in students' IEPs.
Monitor student progress and adjust instruction based on data.
Teach strategies promoting independence, self-advocacy, organization, problem-solving, and access to the general education curriculum.
