Job summary

Bastrop Independent School District – Bastrop High School, Bastrop, Texas, is hiring a Teacher Assistant for Special Education Life Skills to support students with disabilities inside and outside the classroom. Under the supervision of a certified teacher and the principal, you will assist with IEP goals, behavior management, and instructional activities while promoting safety and respect.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent; six months of related experience preferred;

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Six months of related experience preferred.
• Knowledge of district policies and classroom procedures.
• Knowledge of strategies for assisting students with special needs.
• Knowledge of de-escalation and safety techniques (CPR/First Aid).
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
• Ability to operate standard computer software.

Responsibilities

• Assist with instructional needs of students with disabilities inside and outside the classroom.
• Assist with implementing IEP goals and behavior management plans.
• Support daily classroom activities and small groups.
• Communicate student progress to the supervising teacher.
• Maintain safe and organized learning environments.
• Perform clerical duties and operate classroom equipment as needed.
