Job summary

Achieve Beyond Pediatric Therapy & Autism Services in Bronx, NY seeks a Special Education Itinerant Teacher. You will provide one-on-one instruction in CPSE, travel across Bronx and NYC boroughs, and coach families on intervention strategies to support child progress.

Qualifications

• Must have a passion for working with children and families.
• NY State certification(s) in Special Education: Birth–2 or All Grades, Initial or Professional; Permanent Special Education Certification.
• Self-motivated and a team player who is patient and professional.
• Fluency in a language other than English is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide one on one special instruction to children aged 3 to 5 in the CPSE program.
• Educate family members and caregivers on intervention strategies to ensure involvement and carryover.
• Work in homes, family day care homes, daycare centers and other community settings.
• Maintain accurate records; submit evaluations and progress reports timely.
• Prepare progress reports per program timelines; maintain confidentiality per HIPAA and regulations.

Job Responsibilities for a Special Education ItinerantTeacher:

• Provide one on one special instruction to children aged 3 to 5 years in our CPSE program


• Educate family members and caregivers on different intervention strategies to facilitate active involvement and carry-over.


• Work in diverse settings such as patient homes, family day care homes, daycare centers, and/or other community settings.


• Maintain accurate records of services provided; submit evaluationsandprogress reports in a timely manner


• Prepare progress reports as per program timelines


• Maintain confidentiality of information regarding children and families (in accordance with HIPAA and State & Federal regulations) and submit records to agency within established deadlines

Requirements for a Special Education ItinerantTeacher:

• Must have a passion for working with children and families!


• One of the following NYS certifications/licenses:
  o Students with Disabilities (Birth – 2) Initial or Professional Certification OR Students with Disabilities All Grades, Initial or Professional Certification
  o Permanent Special Education Certification


• Must be self-motivated and a team player who exercises patience and professionalism.


• Fluency in a language other than English is a plus!

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to travel to and from assigned cases, including but not limited to:


• Driving a personal vehicle, walking and/or the use of public transportation such as a bus or train.


• The ability to ascend and descend staircases.


• The ability to lift 10 pounds regularly.


• The ability to sit on the floor, kneel and/or crawl for extended periods of time.

StartingRate: hourly $70.00. Compensation is determined based on experience and education and will be discussed during theSpecial Education ItinerantTeacherinterview process.
