Job summary

The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services, Division of State-Operated Specialty Care, is seeking a Special Education Instructor to join STS in Eldora. This full-time role provides specially designed instruction to students aged 12 to 18 within a structured, supportive program.

The role offers curriculum development time, a Monday–Friday schedule from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and opportunities for re-licensure courses during the workday. A thorough orientation is provided.

Qualifications

• Must possess an Initial, Standard, Master Educator, or Exchange License, or be eligible to obtain a Class B License through the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners.
• Must hold at least one endorsement: 5-12 Instructional Strategist I Mild & Moderate; K-12 Instructional Strategist II: BD/LD; 5-12 Multicategorical Special Class with Integration; 5-12 Multicategorical Resource (option 1); 5-12 Mildly Disabled; 5-12 Behavior Disorders; 5-12 Learning Disabilities.
• Applicants will be required to complete a background check.

Responsibilities

• Provide specially designed instruction individually and in small groups for emotionally disordered students with mild to moderate needs.
• Collaborate with general education instructors and campus staff to address diverse student needs.
• Contribute to curriculum development and participate in the STS educational program.

Education
