WAIVER Announcement: Interested applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. Bullitt County Public Schools is requesting a waiver to fill this position before the standard 15-day posting period to ensure we are fully staffed for the upcoming school year.

Roby Elementary is looking for an instructional health assistant to support our special education students as well as our faculty and staff for the 2026-2027 school year. Candidates will be responsible for assisting teachers and providing instructional assistance in a special education setting. Candidates will also provide for the needs of special education students during the school day in accordance with state laws and district regulations. In addition, candidates must commit to being part of a positive school culture where all students are supported and provided the proper supports to ensure each student grows.

Position Details

Hours: 6.5 hours per day

NOTE: (plus a 30-minute unpaid lunch)

Contract Length: 183 days per year

• 170 student instructional days


• 4 holidays


• 7 planning days


• 2 extended days

Contract Adjustments:Contracted days will be prorated based on the start date

Employment Status: Full-time with benefits

Employment Type: 10-month employee on the classified salary schedule.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: Must meet one of the following:
  
  
  • 48 college semester hours
  
  
  • An Associate’s Degree OR
  
  
  • High school diploma plus a passing score on the Paraeducator Assessment Exam.
  
  


• Documentation: Candidates must provide proof of educational requirements to HR upon recommendation for hire.

2026-2027 pay scale

Step 0: $16.46

Step 10: $20.26

• Experience Credit: New employees may transfer up to 10 years of comparable, full-time, verified experience.


• Note: It is the employee's responsibility to submit the BCPS Verification of Experience form to previous employers.

Payroll Note: While this is an hourly position, the salary is distributed via a year-long contract over 10 months. You will receive 4 paychecks at the end of June.

Salary Formula: Hours per day × Hourly rate = Daily rate Daily rate × Contracted days = Annual salary. Annual salary ÷ Remaining pay periods = Gross biweekly pay
