Job summary

West Windsor-Plainsboro Regional School District seeks an Instructional Assistant for Special Education to support licensed staff in fostering a safe, nurturing learning environment. The IA will help implement IEP-driven activities, monitor student progress, and assist with specialized instruction across the day.

The position requires a high school diploma with 60 college credits; an associates degree is preferred. Strong communication skills and autism experience are a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; 60 college credits from an accredited college or university.
• Associates degree preferred.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Experience with autism preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with special needs as necessary per their IEP.
• Assist the special education teacher in developing classroom curriculum based on individual students' needs.
• Provide support in imparting specialized education based on individualized lesson plans.
• Provide prompting, cueing, and redirecting student participation to tasks.
• Organize and manage materials and activities.
• Perform tasks to achieve instructional, behavioral, personal and social learning objectives.
• Assist with behavior intervention procedures.
• Help students with mobility needs and ensure a safe classroom environment.
• Observe students for changes in behavior or health and report observations.
• Supervise and assist during lunch and indoor/outdoor activities.
• Reinforce lessons and maintain confidentiality.
