Job summary

West Windsor-Plainsboro Regional School District seeks a Part-Time Instructional Assistant for Special Education to support licensed staff in implementing individualized education plans within a collaborative learning environment.

The role requires assisting with toileting, mobility, data collection, and daily activities while promoting students’ personal, social, and academic development. 10-month contract; 60 credits preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and 60 credits from an accredited college or university; associate degree preferred.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of child growth and special needs education.
• Must be able to assist with toileting, feeding, and personal care.

Responsibilities

• Assist the special education teacher in developing curriculum based on individual students’ needs.
• Provide support in imparting specialized education per lesson plans.
• Assist with behavior modification procedures.
• Help students with mobility and ensure safe classroom environment.
• Monitor students during activities and lunchtime; intervene as needed.
• Assist in establishing a positive learning environment and reinforce classroom objectives.
