Job summary

Peoria Unified School District is seeking an Exceptional Student Services Instructional Assistant to support students with disabilities in a variety of classroom settings. You will help deliver lessons, implement accommodations, and assist with daily living activities under teacher direction.

This 9-month role offers hands-on experience in education, opportunities to advance toward special education paths, and collaboration with a dedicated team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Experience supporting students with disabilities is preferred.
• Issued training in CPR, First Aid and CPI is desired.

Responsibilities

• Support the diverse needs of students with disabilities on campus.
• Assist students across settings to complete tasks with accommodations.
• Foster workplace skills and positive behaviors through teaching.
• Monitor and redirect behaviors using de-escalation techniques.
• Aid students in utilizing assistive technology to enhance learning.
• Lead individual and small group activities under teacher direction.
• Maintain documentation for student files and records.
• Assist with activities of daily living, including basic care tasks.
• Support individual programs for behavior, sensory needs, and academics.
• Perform additional duties such as playground or cafeteria monitoring.
