Role Overview

ResponsiveEd’s Special Education Instructional Aide position is ideal for candidates seeking valuable experience in Special Education. Support the Special Education teacher in working with students who have diverse learning, cognitive, emotional, and physical disabilities to meet their academic needs.

Responsibilities
  1. Assist in the educational and social development of students under the guidance of the classroom teacher and administration.
  2. Implement and monitor Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  3. Support students inside and outside the classroom to facilitate full participation.
  4. Collaborate with professionals such as speech therapists, social workers, and therapists.
  5. Maintain student records and assist with scheduling ARD meetings and evaluations.
  6. Ensure compliance with assessments and support the Response to Intervention process.
  7. Communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, and administrators.
  8. Support behavior management and student progress evaluation.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned, including after-hours activities.
Qualifications
  • Passion for working with students with disabilities.
  • Patience and ability to work interactively with diverse learners.
  • Knowledge of federal and state special education laws and processes.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and computer skills.
  • Ability to interpret student data and adapt accordingly.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience working with students or parents preferred.
  • One of the following:
    • Three years of experience as an Educational Aide I or II.
    • 30 college semester hours focusing on child development or related fields.
    • Completion of an Education Service Center Instructional Aide certification course.
