Job summary

Dallastown Area School District seeks a School Psychologist who will be part of a diagnostic team for identification, placement, and remediation of exceptional students. The role supports building-level staff by interpreting evaluations and guiding services.

Under supervision of the Assistant Director of Special Education, you will coordinate with administrators, teachers, families, and community partners, administer tests, and contribute to team decisions on student supports. EOE.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or higher preferred for school psychology licensure.
• PA/PDE certification as Specialist - School Psychologist PK-12 required or preferred.
• Driver's license and reliable transportation are required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates with administrators, teachers, outside agencies, families, and counselors to support students.
• Maintains confidential records and writes required reports within deadlines.
• Administers tests and participates in the multi-disciplinary teams for placement decisions.
• Interprets evaluation results and communicates recommendations to staff and parents.
• Provides mental health assessments and related supports as directed.

Job Summary

Under the general supervision of an Assistant Director of Special Education, you'll function as part of a diagnostic team for the identification, placement, and remediation of children who are classified as exceptional and to serve as a resource person for building-level staff in helping to understand children.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree preferred
• PA/PDE Certification: Specialist - School Psychologist PK-12 (1875)
• Must possess a valid driver's license and have reliable transportation.
• Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with others
• Acceptable record of attendance
• Willingness to be flexible in terms of teaching assignment within the school setting
• Completion and submission of all mandated pre-employment documents and information

Responsibilities

• Coordinates with administrators, teachers, outside agencies, mental, legal, health care workers, families and counselors to better serve the needs of students.
• Works cooperatively with and maintains open lines of communication with administrators, parents, students, staff members, and the general public.
• Develops, maintains, and accurately completes all required written confidential records and reports within established timelines.
• Administers tests, schedules conferences, and functions as a member of the multi-disciplinary team which recommends placement for exceptional students.
• Reviews reevaluation reports of exceptional students.
• Assists special education teachers and regular education teachers with test score interpretation.
• Provides staff members with procedures and recommendations for dealing effectively with exceptional students and/or at-risk students.
• Conducts parent and student conferences to interpret evaluation results and forwards appropriate recommendations.
• Demonstrates understanding and concern for each student in meeting his or her educational needs, including the recommendation for the evaluation of students thought to be exceptional or in need of special education, gifted education, or accommodations.
• Provide direct service for Mental Health Assessments, Threat Assessments, and Manifestation Determination needs as determined by the Director of Special Education, Assistant Director of Special Education, or Building Principal.
• Conducts small group and/or individual social skills sessions as determined by Director of Special Education or Assistant Director of Special Education.
• Provides mental health consultations as determined by district-level administration
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education, Assistant Director of Special Education, or Building Principal.
