Job summary

Donald P. Timony Grammar School within Methuen Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Administrator to lead the district's SPED program. You will coordinate the IEP process, supervise staff, and ensure compliance with state and federal SPED laws.

The role requires strong communication with parents and outside agencies, plus ability to manage duties across out-of-district placements and budget responsibilities. Starting date to be determined; contingent on funding.

Qualifications

• Massachusetts license as a special education administrator.
• Master's degree in special education with significant coursework in educational administration.
• Minimum of 5 years experience in public education.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with parents, outside agencies and staff.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise special education program and staff.
• Knowledgeable about state and federal special education laws.
• Previous administrative and supervisory experience preferred.
• Outstanding preparation and/or experience may be substituted for some of the above qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership, coordination and supervision of all special education students in out-of-district placements.
• Coordinate the special education process and manage paper processes and IEPs.
• Maintain timely communication with parents, out-of-district placements and outside agencies.
• Monitor performance of SPED students; implement changes in line with federal law.
• Assist in Medicaid reimbursement processes and budget preparation.
• Attend special education administrators’ meetings and participate in PD activities.
• Address parent concerns promptly and pro-actively.
