Great Hearts Roosevelt is hiring two Special Education Campus Coordinator/Teachers for next year!

Special Education at Great Hearts:

  • At Great Hearts, our Special Education Teachers and Coordinators are integral members of our faculty, participating in all faculty-wide events and PD, while also bringing the specialized expertise that is necessary for the success of all our students.
  • Great Hearts aims to serve all students within our special education population in a manner that affirms and reflects their dignity and rightful participation within the larger student body and academy.
  • Through consultation, resource, inclusion, and co-teaching models, the Special Education team provides essential support, following an Individualized Education Plan, to ensure each student is served in the least restrictive environment possible.


Job Description:

Great Hearts Academies is committed to serving the students within our special education population in a manner that reflects and affirms their dignity and rightful participation within the larger student body. Through the use of consultation, resource, and inclusion models in a variety of academic environments, the Special Education team aims to provide support for students while working to ensure as much time as appropriate is spent within the general classroom.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Planning and providing specially designed instructions to students receiving special education and related services.
  • Collaborating with related service providers and general education staff in the implementation of accommodations and modifications
  • Drafting and maintaining IEPs, Prior Written Notices, and potentially evaluation paperwork, ensuring compliance with state and federal guidelines
  • Planning and facilitating meetings throughout the special education process
  • Ongoing communication and collaboration with parents, staff, and administrative staff regarding student planning and progress.
  • Managing the transition of new enrollees eligible for special education and related services.


Requirements:
  • Candidates must hold at least a bachelor's degree and a valid Arizona certification in Special Education (mild to moderate, cross-categorical, learning disability, or intern/alternative)
  • Candidates must be proficient in the use of technology.
  • Great Hearts teachers must also demonstrate a commitment to and love for the liberal arts.
  • At least one year of teaching in Special Education is preferred


Compensation:

Great Hearts offers a very competitive benefits package and overall compensation will be commensurate with talent, experience and education.

Additional Requirements:
  • Type of fingerprint clearance: Must possess or obtain valid Arizona Department of Public Safety IVP fingerprint clearance card.
  • Physical functions: Requires but is not limited to standing, sitting, repetitious hand and body movements, bending, squatting, and reaching. May be required to move or position equipment up to 15 pounds approximately.
  • Travel required: May need to travel locally to the various academies within the Phoenix metro area.
