Job summary

Lakeville Area Schools is seeking a Special Education Coordinator to support district staff in meeting the educational needs of students with disabilities and ensure compliance with state and federal laws. This 261-day position offers the opportunity to lead program development and evaluation across multiple schools.

Applicants must hold Minnesota Director of Special Education license, a Master's degree in an educational field, and at least two years in a special education administrative role

The Special Education Coordinator will assist district staff to successfully meet the educational needs of students with disabilities and will ensure compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.

  • This is a 261day a year position.
  • Salary range: $111,000-$116,000depending on qualifications. Salary will be prorated to the start date.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
  • Current Minnesota Director of Special Education license.
  • Master's degree in educational field.
  • Two or more years in a special education administrative position; experience with staff evaluationpreferred.
  • Two or more years of experience developing, implementing and evaluating special programs and workingwith students with low incidence disabilities.
  • Group facilitation and conflict resolution training and experience.
  • Experience with general education curriculum and differentiated instruction at the elementary level.
  • Experience creating and implementing meaningful professional development activities.
  • Experience training and coaching educators in the implementation of positive behavioral supports andrestrictive procedures.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills and the ability to establish collaborative relationships witha variety of stakeholders.
  • Ability to use a variety of digital devices and office equipment to efficiently complete job duties.
  • Ability to use vocal communication to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word andconvey details or important instructions to others accurately, loudly or quickly.
  • Ability to see things up close and at a distance, adjust focus, and use depth perception/color perception/peripheral vision.
  • Ability to hear, to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed informationthrough oral communication and/or to make fine distinctions in sound.
  • Valid Minnesota driver's license without restrictions.
