Position Title: Special Education Career Assistant Job Coach

Position Start Date: August 11, 2025

Position Type: Paraeducators

FTE: 0.80 - 32 hours per week - Regular, ongoing

Work Schedule: 9 Month - Hourly

Pay Range: $26.73 - $34.52

Closing Date: May 8, 2025

Summary: Assists students with intensive needs in both the regular and special education classrooms, including behavioral, academic, health, and other supports.

Responsibilities:

• Provide support to special education students in the regular and special education classrooms.
• Support may include adapting work, monitoring behavior, implementing health care plans, toileting assistance, academic support, etc.
• Assist children in the cafeteria, at recess, in labs, or any other required settings, including bus assistance.
• Assist in crisis situations involving physically aggressive students, including restraining and documentation.
• Understand state laws and regulations related to behavior management and implement specialized therapy programs.
• Support is provided under the supervision of the case manager/teacher, as per student IEPs.
• Mentor and support students with various abilities and disabilities to foster independence.
• Assist during field trips, administering tests, and documentation of progress.
• Maintain confidentiality and collaborate with staff on student plans.
• Attend professional development sessions and maintain required certifications.
• Follow behavior support and crisis management plans, including CPI protocols.
• Participate in IEP meetings and staff meetings as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completed and submitted BVSD online application
• Proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking)
• Ability to lift 50 pounds and perform health care duties

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with children
• Positive communication skills with diverse populations
• Basic bilingual skills (English/Spanish)

Salary Information: Salary varies based on experience and education. The listed range applies to new hires or those new to BVSD. Salaries are determined through a salary placement process in accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act.
