Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the Maryland Bar.
• Three years of legal experience.

Responsibilities

• Represent the school system at mediation conferences, resolution sessions, and due process hearings regarding IDEA/504.
• Provide legal advice regarding IDEA to IEP teams and participate in IEP meetings as directed.
• Develop professional development on IDEA/COMAR and case law for staff.
• Review amendments, regulations, and decisions to keep staff updated on legal obligations.
• Respond to complaints and conduct legal research to issue opinions and guidance.
• Represent the Superintendent at administrative hearings and perform related duties.
