Job summary

The Howard County Public School System (HCPSS) seeks an experienced Special Education teacher for Evening High School to work in collaboration with general education staff and the student’s home school team. The role focuses on IEP implementation and data-driven instruction to support students with disabilities.

Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree and Maryland MSDE Special Education licensure for grades 6-12.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in education or a related field.
• Must hold MSDE Special Education licensure for grades 6-12.
• Previous experience with IEP processes is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plans and implements instructional programs and interventions aligned to goals.
• Provides direct instruction and support to students with disabilities and teachers.
• Serves as liaison between school staff and administration, including the special education supervisor.
• Prepares for IEP meetings and conducts case management for students.
• Interprets formal and informal assessments to guide instruction.
• Collects data to improve outcomes and directs instruction accordingly.
• Communicates with families about updates and progress.
• Supervises paraeducators and manages materials and equipment.
• Uses assistive technology to support learning and collaboration.
