Job summary

Atlas Elementary seeks a dedicated Special Education Assistant Teacher to support students with diverse learning needs. You will work with lead teachers to implement IEPs, manage behavior, and deliver differentiated instruction using visual aids and assistive technology.

Role involves assisting with academic and social-emotional development, collaborating with both special and general education staff, and promoting inclusive practices across the school day.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in special education or related field preferred.
• Substitute certification required or ability to obtain one.
• Prior experience with students with special needs preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing IEPs to support academic, social, and emotional goals.
• Support classroom management and behavior interventions under lead teacher guidance.
• Help deliver differentiated instruction with visual aids, manipulatives, and assistive tech.
• Provide academic and social-emotional support during lessons, promoting literacy and math skills.
• Assist with physical care needs as required by student plans.
• Collaborate with special and general education teachers to ensure inclusion.
• Support inclusion during recess, lunch, and field trips to foster peer interactions.
• Adapt materials and assessments to meet diverse learning needs.
• Assist with transitions and daily routines to promote independence.
• Communicate progress with families through regular updates.
