Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Eligible for New Mexico Instructional Assistant License.
• Post-secondary education in related topics preferred.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Follow local, state and federal law and district policies.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information.
• Assist in movement and care of non-ambulatory students as needed.
• Work with the classroom teacher to develop instructional materials.
• Assist in classroom activities and grading where appropriate.
• Participate in professional development to improve skills.
• Prepare class displays and learning environments.
• May substitute for the teacher in emergencies.
• Assist in non-instructional duties such as hall duty and lunchroom supervision.
• Operate equipment used in producing instructional materials.
