Job summary

Great Hearts Academies is seeking a Special Education Teaching Assistant (6-12) for Glendale Preparatory Academy in Peoria, AZ. The role supports students in general and special education settings under certified teachers, with emphasis on SDI concepts and behavior management.

The position requires a high school diploma (associate degree preferred or 60 credits) and experience in special education. Strong communication skills and ability to work with diverse learners are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or higher required.
• Associate degree preferred, or 60 credits with ADE assessment.
• Two years of higher education or passing ADE assessment.
• Experience in special education preferred.

Responsibilities

• Academic Support: work with students in small groups or 1:1; assist with assignments, homework, projects; adapt materials and provide modifications.
• Behavior Support: monitor student behavior and safety; implement behavior strategies; help develop social skills and positive behaviors.
• Additional Support: assist with transitions, personal hygiene needs, mobility and equipment; provide clerical support for the ESS Team.
• Additional Duties: attend meetings and trainings; maintain a clean, organized workspace; foster a positive learning environment.
