Job summary

Boston Public Schools seeks a Special Education Analyst to perform data analyses that inform system improvements and close opportunity and achievement gaps for students with disabilities. The role emphasizes knowledge of the district’s student information and IEP systems, and requires strong cross-department collaboration.

The Analyst will monitor KPIs related to identification, placement, and compliance, and produce reports for technical and non-technical audiences while coaching stakeholders

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required; 2+ years of data analysis experience in K–12 education preferred.
• Strong analytic and data systems management skills with attention to detail.
• Proficiency with STATA, R, SPSS, SQL or similar statistical tools.
• Ability to explain complex analytical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Excellent time management and ability to balance competing priorities.
• Experience communicating with diverse audiences and knowledge of Boston neighborhoods.

Responsibilities

• Ensure data reports and dashboards are up-to-date for districtwide improvement processes.
• Develop standard reports and dashboards for OSS and ODA.
• Gain in-depth understanding of BPS student information and IEP information systems.
• Identify system improvement needs related to the district’s IEP information system.
• Document data governance roles and business rules for data elements.
• Support FERPA, HIPAA, IDEA, MA DESE compliance and data-sharing agreements.
