Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED and Paraprofessional Certification (OSDE) are required.

Responsibilities

• Works cooperatively with the classroom teacher in the implementation of the instructional program.
• Helps children achieve success and develop positive feelings about themselves and school.
• Models language and behavior for children.
• Assists in implementing the student(s) IEP with certified staff.
• Prepares for instruction by collecting/creating materials and teaching aids.
• Assists in personal care and safety of the child/children.
• Provides supports for physical, health or behavioral concerns to access education.
• Uses assistive technology as needed by students.
• Supervises activities during the contract day (playground, drills, lunch, field trips, bus loading, etc.).
• Maintains professional competence and cooperative relationships with staff and administrators.
• Follows district, state and federal laws, policies and procedures.
