Job summary

Jackson County School District is seeking a paraprofessional to support students within the Special Education program. You will work under certified teachers, assist with classroom activities, create and modify instructional materials for access to general education, and help implement motor/mobility plans under therapist guidance.

The role includes clerical tasks, lunch/recess supervision, and participation in IEP teams.

Qualifications

• Requires two years or 48 college credit hours or an associate degree or higher.
• High school diploma/GED plus verified WorkKeys scores (Reading for Information 4, Applied Mathematics 4, Writing 3).
• Ability to lift at least 25 pounds.
• General understanding of the District Educational Program.

Responsibilities

• Works under the guidance of certified teachers.
• Assists in supervising students through the day’s activities.
• Assists in creating individualized learning materials and adjusting curriculum for access to general education.
• Implements motor/mobility plans under supervision of an Occupational Therapist and a Physical Therapist.
• Assists group at lunch/recess and with specified accommodations.
• Performs routine clerical duties (duplication of learning materials, bulletin boards, inventories, filing).
• Assists with personal care (toileting, feeding, etc.).
• Supervises students for limited times during classroom hours.
• Follows daily lesson plans from the certified teacher.
• Attends professional development offered by Special Education Department.
• Serves on IEP teams for served students.
• Performs other duties as assigned by Principal/Director of Special Education.
