Job summary

Giddings Independent seeks an Educational Aide to meet the physical and instructional needs of students with disabilities inside and outside the classroom. You will support implementing IEPs under the supervision of a certified teacher.

You will assist with self-help, behavior management, and instructional programs, help with daily routines, and ensure confidentiality while monitoring student safety and well-being throughout the school day.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or equivalent as required by No Child Left Behind Act.
• Valid Texas educational aide certificate.
• Ability to work with children with disabilities.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Two years of experience working with children.

Responsibilities

• Assist with meeting individual student needs, including transfers to and from wheelchairs and personal care.
• Help manage behavior, intervene in crises.
• Recognize and adapt to differences in students' needs and interaction style.
• Support development of motor skills through instructional exercises.
• Assist students throughout the school day, including lunchroom, bus, and playground duties.
• Keep teachers informed of any special needs or problems.
