Job summary

Family of Kidz is seeking a Part-time School Aide to support students in a Suffolk County, NY, school-based setting. Typical hours are 25–32 per week with daytime scheduling, following the school calendar.

The role may involve 1:1 student support or helping in special education or general education classrooms. Strong collaboration with school staff and a focus on confidentiality are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma is required.
• At least six months of supervised experience with children or adolescents with special needs.
• Reliable transportation.
• Experience in a special education classroom or 1:1 school assignment preferred.
• Bilingual skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support students with organization, transitions, communication, social interactions, and daily living needs, which may include mobility and hygiene.
• May include implementation of relevant components of a student’s IEP, behavior support plan, or skill-building program as directed and within the aide’s role.
• May include collect data and sharing objective observations with the teacher, behavior consultant, or clinical supervisor as requested.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, teaching assistants, school psychologists, social workers, behavior consultants, and related service providers.
• Support a safe, welcoming, and inclusive learning environment. Complete and apply required safety or crisis prevention training when assigned.
• Maintain student confidentiality in accordance with applicable state and federal requirements.
• Demonstrate Family of Kidz core values in interactions with students, families, and school teams.

• Current enrollment in or completion of an undergraduate program in education, psychology, human services, healthcare, or a related field preferred
• Experience supporting students with autism, learning differences, or behavioral needs preferred
• Experience in a special education classroom or 1:1 school assignment preferred
• Bilingual skills are a plus
