Family of Kidz seeks a dedicated school-based aide to support students with diverse learning needs in Suffolk County, NY. The role involves 1:1 student support or assisting in special education or general education classrooms and requires teamwork with teachers, psychologists, and related staff.

Responsibilities

• Support students with organization, transitions, communication, social interactions, and daily living needs, which may include mobility and hygiene
• May include implementation of relevant components of a student’s IEP, behavior support plan, or skill-building program as directed and within the aide’s role
• May include collect data and sharing objective observations with the teacher, behavior consultant, or clinical supervisor as requested
• Work collaboratively with teachers, teaching assistants, school psychologists, social workers, behavior consultants, and related service providers
• Support a safe, welcoming, and inclusive learning environment. Complete and apply required safety or crisis prevention training when assigned
• Maintain student confidentiality in accordance with applicable state and federal requirements
• Demonstrate Family of Kidz core values in interactions with students, families, and school teams

And this background

• High school diploma required
• At least six months of supervised experience working with children or adolescents with special needs
• Reliable transportation
• Current enrollment in or completion of an undergraduate program in education, psychology, human services, healthcare, or a related field preferred
• Experience supporting students with autism, learning differences, or behavioral needs preferred
• Experience in a special education classroom or 1:1 school assignment preferred
• Bilingual skills are a plus
