Job summary

Pulaski County Special School District in Little Rock, Arkansas seeks a Special Education Paraprofessional to support teachers and students with disabilities at Robinson Elementary School.

Responsibilities include one-on-one or small group instruction under a certified teacher, implementing behavior management, and assisting with student care such as feeding, toileting, dressing, and other medical supports under the school nurse. 181 contract days, 7 hours per day.

Qualifications

• High School diploma/GED and one of the following: Completed 60 credit hours at an institution of higher education
• Obtained an associate’s degree (or higher)
• Passed the paraprofessional academic assessment exam
• Ability to work with special needs students

Responsibilities

• Provide one on one instruction or group instruction under the supervision of a certified teacher
• Implement behavior management techniques as directed by teacher/building principal
• Assist with the physical needs including but not limited to feeding, toileting, dressing, catheterization, physical management, etc. of the student. Some heavy lifting of the student is required
• Administer medications and other medical supports as prescribed and directed by the school nurse
• Complete daily work schedules as assigned by the teacher/principal
• Assist the teacher with the maintenance of the classroom
• Assist with duties such as the lunchroom, recess, buses for the student(s)
• Be aware of Board of Education policies, district and school guidelines, and regulations and adhere to the same
• Perform other duties as assigned
