Job summary

Ames Community School District is seeking an Edwards Elementary Special Education Educational Associate to support teachers in delivering instruction and managing student needs. The role includes assisting with materials, attendance, and behavior in inclusive settings.

Qualifications include a high school diploma and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, with strong communication skills and reliability. The position is on site, with full benefits for 30+ hours per week.

Qualifications

• Demonstrates basic understanding of children needs and development.
• Ability to relate effectively to children with diverse academic and behavioral needs.
• Patience, compassion and a caring relationship with students.
• Proficient with word processing (Google Docs or similar) and basic email/internet skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and assist physically active students.

Responsibilities

• Assist students in following teacher directions and completing assignments.
• Support individuals or small groups during lessons and activities.
• Help prepare materials and maintain daily records and documentation.
• Supervise students and enforce classroom and school discipline per administrator directions.
• Assist with health, hygiene and medication administration as instructed.
