Qualifications

• Associate’s degree, two years (48 hours) of study at an institute of higher learning, or have met formal academic assessment requirements.
• Valid Texas Educational Aide certificate from the State Board for Educator Certification will be recommended by the district upon hire.
• Experience with instructing reading, writing, and mathematics is preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work well with children.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct instruction of students under direct supervision of teacher. Conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher, work with individual students or small groups.
• Assist in classroom management.
• Conduct parent involvement activities.
• Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
• Assist with administration and scoring of objective tests or work assignments.
• Help maintain neat and orderly classroom.
• Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
• Help teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
• Participate in staff development training programs and faculty meetings.
